Never name a cat that isn't yours.

Jerred and I finally had a day off yesterday
so we spent the day in Nebraska City,
picking out pumpkins, taking photos, drinking
warm cider, having a picnic and
even making some new furry friends.

We spent most of our time at Pumpkin Ridge.
That's where we met Marshmallow. She was the sweetest
kitten we'd ever met. And we took turns holding her
as we picked pumpkins and talked to Clarinda,
the woman who owned the farm with her husband.
She's a retired teacher who adores children, and
she lit up every time some little guys stopped by
the farm to pick out pumpkins and pet the cats
(there must have been a dozen cats roaming
around the farm).

She told us how she found Marshmallow (she didn't have
a name for her, so we affectionately named her Marshmallow),
this cute little gray & white kitten, after a tornado
at the farm earlier this year and bottle fed her back to
health. Marshmallow purred
the entire time we were there and
eventually jumped in the Element when we tried to leave.

For a moment, we thought it might be fate telling
us to take her home, but Marshmallow had a family
that loved her and an endless line of people
showering her with affection as they came & went
at Pumpkin Ridge. Besides, our house is
pretty full already with Noodle, Cannoli & Sprinkle.
And not sure how happy they would be about having
a new furry sister.

So we left, without our sweet new friend, and talked about
Marshmallow all the way home and how grateful we were
for having such beautiful weather on our day off.
